The Template of Perfection

There are strict rules in the model business for the classically beautiful face. Even if you are a handsome guy or a drop dead gorgeous girl, it is not necessarily that you have the look for the industry! Too commercial? Not editorial enough to portray high fashion? Sometimes, it can be a problem for a model to expand their career into the competitive fashion industry. So, do you think you fit the template of perfection to be a high fashion model? Let's have a look at the certain criteria that bookers and scouts have in their checklist.

A Scout's Checklist

1) Eyes: Eyes should have a space for an eye in between.

2) Face: A perfectly proportioned face divided into horizontal thirds, the lines of division passing through the centre of the eyes and mouth.

3) Lips: The ends of the lips should line up with the mid-point of the irises.

4) Nose: The ends of the mouth should be the same width as the outer points of the nostrils.

5) Mouth as a whole: The upper lip should occupy a third of the entire area between bottom of upper lip and bottom of nostril.

6) Body as a whole: Amazingly tall, broad-shouldered but slender. Long legs and arms; nice hands.

Cautions:-

1) Amazingly tall means that you are tall but not too tall exceeding 190cm and taller. Sometimes, height is not an issue. We do not discriminate! That depends though, if you want to be a high fashion model or a commercial model.

2) According to the British Association of Model Agents (AMA), usually female models should be around 34-24-34 in (86-61-86 cm) and at least 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) tall. For male models, the preferred average dimensions are a height of 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) to 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), a waist of 26-33 in (66.04-83.82 cm) and a chest measurement of 32-40 in (81.28-101.60 cm).

3) One more thing about male models is that you cannot be too muscular unless if you want to be a fitness model. You are not going to fit the Armani suit that we ask you to wear if your body is like a bodybuilder.
